St. Thomas Aquinas – Webster City recently received a St. Katharine Drexel Grant from The Catholic Foundation in the Archdiocese of Dubuque (CFAD) for its program in association with Meals from the Heartland. The grant supports members of the community from the St. Mary/St. Thomas Aquinas Cluster while impacting seven different organizations or food pantries.
St. Thomas Aquinas worked with Meals from the Heartland and gathered 255 members of the community to offer an almsgiving project for cluster parishioners this Lent. Through the St. Katharine Drexel Grant, the cluster packaged and shipped over 60,000 meals to various food pantries and charities across Iowa.
CFAD’s St. Katharine Drexel Grant helps Catholic organizations in the Archdiocese of Dubuque with new projects that provide a Work of Mercy needed in their area and/or new evangelization efforts to bring people closer to Christ and His Church. “People need volunteer opportunities. This was a great way to see everybody coming together to serve,” said Heidi Tesdahl, development director of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and School.
