Seton Catholic Schools – Peosta recently received a St. Katharine Drexel Grant from The Catholic Foundation in the Archdiocese of Dubuque (CFAD) for its Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program. The grant specifically supports students of Seton Catholic Schools, Peosta, Iowa.
Seton Catholic Schools sought to introduce CGS to its instruction in hopes to develop an authentic, prayerful relationship with God that will last a lifetime for its students. Through the St. Katharine Drexel Grant, the school was able to train their coordinator, Sarah Richard, as well as build and procure the materials for their atrium.
CFAD’s St. Katharine Drexel Grant helps Catholic organizations in the Archdiocese of Dubuque with new projects that provide a Work of Mercy needed in their area and/or new evangelization efforts to bring people closer to Christ and His Church. “We are extremely grateful for the Drexel Grant as it helped us create a wonderful atrium for our students,” said Sarah Richard, CGS coordinator. She continued, “This program allows our kids to come in and learn at their own pace. We recently had a student who struggles to focus in the classroom and was able to work on a task within the curriculum for over 30 minutes. Clayton Ellsworth, principal of Seton Catholic, added, “This program allows our students to make connections between the Mass and CGS that is humbling to see.”
