Holy Family of the Bluffs - Lansing recently received a St. Katharine Drexel Grant from The Catholic Foundation in the Archdiocese of Dubuque (CFAD) for its program in association with Evangelical Catholic. The grant specifically supports the parishioners of Holy Family of the Bluffs to be trained and sent on mission.
Holy Family of the Bluffs established a partnership with Evangelical Catholic to fortify its efforts in adult faith formation and evangelization to equip their lay parishioners to go out as apostles in their community. Through the St. Katharine Drexel Grant, the parish trained over 20 parishioners, who have now initiated differing evangelization efforts in their parishes.
CFAD’s St. Katharine Drexel Grant helps Catholic organizations in the Archdiocese of Dubuque with new projects that provide a Work of Mercy needed in their area and/or new evangelization efforts to bring people closer to Christ and His Church. “It’s been amazing to see the eyes of parishioners opening and accepting the ownership they have in spreading the Good News,” said Brenda Hogan, parishioner of the Holy Family of the Bluffs. Fr. Joseph Sevcik, pastor there, noted that one example of a trained minister who has successfully invited a few community members back to Mass, of which a couple of children have signed up for youth faith formation. “The training and framework allowed this individual to make that connection and invitation,” Fr. Sevcik joyfully expressed.
