The Catholic Foundation in the Archdiocese of Dubuque (CFAD) works with donors who wish to maximize their legacy of faith, reflecting their values, passing them to the next generations and caring for people's needs as God's children. We assist them with meaningful and lasting impact to sustain our Catholic organizations so that they can always carry out their missions to meet both spiritual and basic human needs in a manner that reflects Catholic values. CFAD helps donors structure legacy gifts in the best way for them, their family and the organization(s) they want to benefit. We invest these legacy gifts in Catholic responsible choices, and through donor agreements, grant these legacy gifts as donors intend. We also work with Catholic organizations to help them plan and work with their donors and to provide stewardship opportunties for their longer-term organizational assets.
Multiply charitable resources for maximum benefit to our Catholic community
Endow financial support for our Catholic community
As a public, nonprofit, Catholic community foundation, CFAD serves through our charitable planning, investing and grantmaking services. We are separate from, yet collaborative with, the Archdiocese Corporation and hold donor advised funds and endowments for donors and many of the Catholic parishes, schools, cemeteries, social services and other Catholic organizations. We primarily work within the 30-county area that makes up the Archdiocese of Dubuque. (If a donor wishes, we can also work with the donor to help other Catholic organizations in the United States.)
Giving back to God with grace and generosity
Providing professional guidance to grow the Church
Serving the common good together
Creating relationships with the community based on trust
Forming ourselves as disciples of Jesus Christ
Building a legacy that will last for generations
In 2011, the prayers and work of a task force created by Archbishop Jerome Hanus led to the creation of the Catholic Foundation in the Archdiocese of Dubuque, commonly known as CFAD. The leaders were charged to endow financial support for the future needs of Catholic ministries in the area of the Archdiocese.
Today, CFAD, a 501(c)(3), nonprofit, charitable organization, manages more than 300 funds with $145 million in assets, primarily benefiting entities within the 30 northeastern Iowa counties. CFAD is in the top quarter of the more than 190 Catholic foundations in the U.S. as far as assets under management and is one of the fastest growing Catholic foundations.
CFAD is committed to enhancing the evangelization, spiritual, educational and social service ministries of organizations in the area of the Archdiocese of Dubuque through planning with clients, investing funds and granting funds to sustain the faith and take care of God's creation.
