CFAD distributes two types of grants: non-discretionary and discretionary. Donors direct non-discretionary grants by identifying beneficiaries when establishing funds or through their advisement of their donor advised funds. CFAD's Board of Directors reviews these recommendations to assure eligibility of recipients and the proper use for the intended purpose.
Discretionary grants require a grant application, which becomes available certain times of the year. CFAD's Grant Committee reviews the applications based on requirements and need. It then recommends recipients to CFAD's Board of Directors, who have final determination to assure eligibility and purpose. Grantees report back on completed projects to help with future programs.
